"Renewing standards for Massage Therapists & Bodyworkers by establishing an organization of competent practice."

Why is mentoring important?

Members of the MTBG represent one another, and as a unified whole, we establish and preserve professional integrity in our State. Maintaining a smart, efficient and ethical practice is a shared goal. Each of us has a unique compilation of skills, strengths and learning experiences. Sharing our expertise with each other builds a stronger reputation for the massage and bodywork profession. We are here to help you along your path. By helping one another, we benefit practitioners and clients alike. The MTBG therefore promotes and supports mentoring within the guild.

How does this benefit me?

By accepting a mentor, you are joining a team. If you need help organizing your books, getting trade-orientated information, or even finding a sounding board to bounce an idea off of, you can contact a fellow member. Since all our members meet the same requirements and agree to the same code of ethics, you know your mentor is credible. Additionally, connecting with another member builds your network and strengthens the integrity of your practices. Please email mentoring@mtbguild.com for information on who can mentor you.

How can I help?

You may be asked to mentor other members. You will be able to describe your areas of expertise on your application. We use this information to promote you as a practitioner and also as a mentor. Mentoring may take place in one of four ways:

  1. Another practitioner contacts you about a specific topic.
  2. Participating in the forum - find a group to chat with who can use your expertise.
  3. Offer a workshop/class through the guild that is open to all members.
  4. We can also help you connect with practitioners who are not yet members. Whether you're looking for students to extern at your facility, or you want to help groom practitioners who do not yet meet our standards, we will help you extend your knowledge others. Remember, every practitioner makes an impact on the integrity of the field.
